From Green to Gorgeous
It all started with that crazy shade of green paint. House planner Jack Thomasson admits he had to deal with sideways glances when painters applied the first coat. But interior decorator Linda Woodrum knew better. She ignored the naysayers and followed her gut. "I really felt a connection to the trees outside," she says of her inspiration for the color choice.
Fit for a Queen
The bed lends drama to the bold yet dreamy sleeping space. Standout features include the padded headboard with nailhead trim and the faux canopy, created by painting a square of ceiling bright white and attaching sheer linen fabric to each corner of the wood-framed space.
Only the finest would do for this luxurious space. Silk is the fabric of choice for bedding, cord-trimmed shams and bolster pillows. "There are so many different textures and combinations of the creamy white," adds Linda. "Linens, silks, sheers and painted woods make it very rich in an understated way."
Blooms in View
A bouquet of white lilies at the foot of the bed adds its own subtle fragrance. The flower-filled vase rests in a silver serving tray atop a nailhead-trimmed bench. In the background, a trio of mixed-media paintings by A. Krauss lends a tropical twist.
Fantasy for Real
"The seating area was about using that great little space to its best advantage and adding more fun things to the mix," says Linda of the elegant, sunlit space that overlooks the backyard and vineyard. Formal furnishings, tulip bouquets and a whimsical, crystal bead-bedecked chandelier add to the glamorous vibe.
The Outside In
A spot designed for the daydreamer! The sitting room's accessories – Damask-print pillows, glass-topped tables and aged iron and aluminum garden lamps – lend an organic element to the space.
A Quiet Classic
A formal side chair with caned backrest and creamy seat cover is the perfect spot to sit and watch the clouds roll by.
Eye on Eclectic
The riveting on an old zinc table mimics the pattern of nailhead trim found on the headboard and bench. It holds a treasure trove of books and enticing reading material.
Hide and Seek
The media cabinet – a dresser, deck and upper cabinet with bifold doors – provides both storage for clothing or linens and a happy home for a flat-screen TV.
