Electric dog fences usually come with 20-gauge (thinnest), 18-gauge, 16-gauge, or 14-gauge (thickest) wire. The 20-gauge wire with a vinyl coating is what you will find in most pre-packaged do-it-yourself fencing kits. Most professionally installed systems use the more substantial 14, 16 or 18 gauge wire.
Whether you’re replacing a section of your existing fence or wiring your yard from scratch, you can easily find a relatively inexpensive and compatible wire for your project. Regardless of gauge, you should choose only a solid insulated wire rated for burial preferably polyethylene or plastic coated works best.
All of our wire use these coatings for maximum performance.

Heavy Duty Grade Wire
The initial cost of heavy duty grade wire is a bit more than manufacturer grade wire. However, there are many benefits to choosing heavy duty wire for your dog fence.
Heavy Duty grade dog fence wire holds up better to freezing conditions, sunlight exposure, contraction and expansion of the ground, water exposure and general wear and tear.
The long term savings in time and replacement if you are planning on staying in your home for at least a year or more, makes the heavier duty wire a much better investment.
Twisted Wire Option
Twisted wire is used in almost all electric pet fence installations. Twisting two dog fence wires together creates a neutral wire that your dog can cross without receiving a warning or correction. The most common use of twisted wire is for connecting the transmitter box (installed in your home or garage) to the boundary loop. Twisted wire is also used to connect an island loop (exclusion zone) to the main perimeter loop.
Features:
100 Foot Spool
Cancels out the signal allowing your pet to cross
HMWPE coating for maximum sunlight and waterproof protection
ROHS Compliant
Connect the twisted wire to the control box (transmitter) located in your garage or house. Run the twisted wire out to the edge of the boundary where you will install your wire around your yard. Splice one end of the twisted wire to one end of the boundary wire. Run the boundary wire around your containment area and splice the remaining ends of the twisted wire and boundary wire.
