Pair of Sheffield Plate Square Decanter Coasters c.1820 -1840's

Description

A Pair of Sheffield plate square spirit decanter coasters c.1820 -1840's, unsigned, that could also be used as wine decanter coasters and are most unusual because of the square form and that the bases are plated and wood lined, rather than having just a wooden insert.
Condition of both coasters is good for their age and are not dented but do show signs of wear.  One of the coasters has 2 small pieces of damage; the beading has a small crack and there is a small loss of plate on another edge, neither of which would spoil their intended use or their beauty, but both of the coasters' plating show signs of long term cleaning and small spots of corrosion that is not easy to discern from the photographs.  Additionally, the baize on both coasters is worn, as I have tried to show in the photos.
